FUNDING FOR TRAINING

As funding allows, Fort Worth Police Foundation honors requests by the administration and officers for assistance in defraying the costs of specialized training. The following is a brief description of training programs for which funding has been granted. An outline of awards that have been funded is available on the training awards page.

  INSTITUTE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION

Founded in 1957, the mission of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration is to provide advanced administrative education programs to the law enforcement community. ILEA serves as a major resource for advanced seminars and courses not offered by local or regional training academies and facilities. ILEA provides top-quality, academic programs including several one-week courses, the eight-week Management College and Center for Law Enforcement Ethics courses that prepare trainers to provide ethics-based programs in their own organizations.

  FBI NATIONAL ACADEMY

The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study that serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide. Participation is by invitation only, through a nomination process. Participants are drawn from every state in the union, U.S. territories, and over 150 international partner nations. Officers take undergraduate and/or graduate college courses in the following areas: law, behavioral science, forensic science, understanding terrorism/terrorist mindsets, leadership development, communication, and health/fitness.

  THE SOUTHERN POLICE INSTITUTE

The Southern Police Institute is a division of the U.S. Department of Justice and College of Arts and Sciences, University of Louisville. It is an advanced education and training institute whose mission is to enhance the professional development of law enforcement practitioners. SPI provides educational and career development programs designed to challenge and to prepare law enforcement practitioners for the demands of today and tomorrow. Founded in 1951, its program of instruction has been grounded in the belief that law enforcement is a demanding activity requiring the highest level of professional preparation.

  THE FORCE SCIENCE INSTITUTE

The Force Science Institute is dedicated to the study of human dynamics in high stress, rapidly unfolding force encounters. By applying the findings from research conducted by the Institute to real-world situations officers often encounter, the organization strives to ensure that investigations into force encounters take fairly into account the scientific realities of human performance. Further, through classes such as the Force Science Certification Course, the Institute educates a wide variety of law enforcement personnel who are then able to apply Force Science concepts to their investigations and training and their evaluation of officers’ behavior during these encounters.

  CTK Evidence Based Interview & Interrogation

The CTK Group offers a 24-hour Evidence-Based Interview and Interrogation course aimed at providing law enforcement professionals with research-backed techniques and legal strategies. This training focuses on extracting information from victims, witnesses, and suspects, emphasizing cognitive interviewing, persuasion, and the strategic application of evidence.

  CASCI- Colorado Association of Sex Crimes Investigators

The Coalition Against Sexual Assault Investigations (CASCI) is dedicated to fostering a collaborative spirit among sexual assault investigators and professionals from related fields. Their mission is to create a supportive network that encourages the sharing of knowledge, expertise, and resources. By facilitating an open exchange of information, CASCI aims to enhance the effectiveness of investigations and prosecutions of sexual assaults. We are committed to promoting best practices, improving inter-agency communication, and ultimately ensuring justice and support for survivors. Through cooperation and continuous learning, CASCI strives to make a meaningful impact in the fight against sexual assault.

  ICAC- Northwest Internet Crimes Against Children & Technology Conference

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, in partnership with Microsoft, is dedicated to advancing the fight against criminals who exploit the internet to prey on children and vulnerable young adults. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and resources provided by Microsoft, the Task Force enhances its ability to detect, investigate, and prosecute online predators effectively. This collaboration aims to create a safer digital environment by disrupting the activities of those who seek to harm or exploit young individuals online. Through education, prevention, and enforcement efforts, ICAC, alongside Microsoft, is committed to protecting vulnerable populations and ensuring the internet remains a safe space for all users.
